Plot Twists

Some stories begin with a plan.

These begin with whatever yarn happened to be waiting on the shelf.

Plot Twists are knit in small batches from yarn already living in the studio. Some skeins were purchased years ago. Some arrived as partial cakes. Some remained after larger projects found their way into the world. Rather than chasing perfect matching colors, we let each twist emerge from the materials at hand.

The result is a collection where no two are ever exactly alike.

Colors wander. Stripes appear unexpectedly. Flecks and transitions arrive when the yarn decides they should. Small variations are not flaws but evidence of the hands, materials, and history woven into each piece.

Some Plot Twists hold another surprise.

Depending on how they settle, fold, or twist in use, certain colorways can reveal entirely different personalities. A scrunchie that appears mostly gray may suddenly become mostly cream. A stripe may disappear and reappear. Patterns shift, colors trade places, and the story changes with the twist.

That’s where the name comes from.

Like any good plot twist, the ending isn’t always obvious at the beginning.

Items in the Heirloom Workshop, like Plot Twists, follow an older philosophy of making: use what is available, waste as little as possible, and allow useful objects to carry a bit of personality along the way.
