Handmade Heritage Hen
These hens are knit in small batches from yarn already living in the studio.
Some skeins were purchased years ago. Some arrived as partial cakes. Some came from unfinished projects waiting for a second life. Rather than demanding perfect matching colors, we let each hen emerge from the materials at hand, creating a flock where no two birds are ever exactly alike.
Each hen is hand-finished, and assembled in Kentucky.
Their shape is intentionally simple.
Not sculpted for realism. Not designed to imitate factory perfection. They follow an older tradition of practical handcraft, the sort of object that might have rested on a shelf, sewing table, or farmhouse cupboard generations ago.
The variations are part of the story.
Colors shift unexpectedly. Flecks appear where the yarn allows. Small differences from bird to bird are not flaws but evidence of the hands and materials that made them.
Every hen is one of a kind.

Discover Your Hen
Each hen is one of a kind. Photos represent examples from the current flock. If you would like to adopt a specific hen shown on here or on social media, contact the studio and we can help you choose from the current brood. Or allow the studio to choose one for you - she’ll adopt you faster than you can say ‘lay and egg’
Either way, your hen will be the only one exactly like it.
